We Love Rohloff
Your gearbox directly in the stair shaft
A Pinion is not mounted in the rear wheel as with traditional gears, but the bucket is nicely placed between the pedals. That is the best place imaginable: in this way, the full pedaling power is absorbed and converted directly into movement. The system is more compact in addition.
Dit is Pinion
Weissach, the valhalla of the German car freak. The giant Porsche site stretches between the woods and fields near Stuttgart. Tightly guarded buildings for production, research and development, a fast car track for test drives and even a Porsche museum. In the high-tech departments, the world’s best engineers tinker with the fastest cars.
Among them: Christoph Lerman and Michael Schmitz. Two young talented engineers designing gearboxes for the expensive sports cars. Always better, more powerful and more durable. Not only are both colleagues passionate about their work, they are also both avid mountain bikers, about which they can not remain silent in the afternoon in the canteen.

How does a Pinion gear work?
The maverick of the gearboxes
Not mounted in the rear wheel as with traditional gears, but nice between the pedals. The best place imaginable is actually because the full pedaling power is captured and converted directly into motion. The system is also more compact.
The principle is simple
The pedals set the stair shaft in motion with two gears on top that rotate a third on a different axle. What exactly depends on your acceleration. When you switch, you always turn a different gear, with teeth further or closer together. The combination of both gear pairs determines your vitesse. You can skip a few gears when switching. Even when you’re standing still.
Ale a high return
The shifts between each gear are exactly the same size and no gear has a low efficiency or makes the chain wear out faster. In addition, the transmission reaches a solid ratio bandwidth of more than 630%, which means that you can choose the perfect gear for any situation, uphill or downhill.
